Privacy Policy — Last updated: March 22, 2026
HobbyBoard is a free, open-source, self-hosted media organiser for hobbyists. It is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data.
We collect nothing. HobbyBoard does not use analytics, crash reporting services, advertising SDKs, or any third-party tracking. There are no user accounts on our servers — all data stays on the server you control.
HobbyBoard is a self-hosted application. Your media files, metadata, tags, boards, and notes are stored exclusively on the server you set up and operate. The iOS app connects directly to your server — no data passes through any intermediary.
The app ships with a default connection to a public demo server
(demo.hobbyboard.aravindh.net) for evaluation purposes.
On this server:
The app generates a random UUID stored in your device's Keychain.
This identifier is sent as a header (X-Device-ID) with
API requests. It is used exclusively for per-device AI call metering
on the demo server and is never shared with third parties. On your
own self-hosted server, this header is ignored unless you explicitly
enable demo mode.
The app communicates only with the server URL you configure. It does not contact any other servers, APIs, or services. AI-powered image analysis is performed by your self-hosted server, not by the app.
HobbyBoard uses no third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks that collect data. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no monetisation of any kind.
HobbyBoard does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not collect information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Since we collect no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
